About This Site
This website was developed by Stephen J. Hyland, using BBEdit for editing and Movable Type on an Apple Power Macintosh G5 running Mac OS X Tiger. As Eric Cartman would say, Sweet!
You may comment on most news items and articles by clicking on the Comment link following an entry on most pages, or by scrolling to the bottom of an individual entry page. The first time you provide a comment, your comment must be approved before it is posted and may also be deleted if defamatory or excessively disparaging. Nasty people will be banned. All comments are scanned and stripped of html code to prevent spammers or malicious script kiddies from altering or commandeering the site.
Future enhancements to the site include trackbacks, which allow you to link to content on this site, a better search form, an email me
form that will automatically notify you when new articles and/or other content are posted, and a contact form for requesting our newsletter.
The website is compliant with the XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS2 standards, which means it should render correctly in all modern browsers, while remaining usable (if not always beautiful) on older browsers. It should also render correctly on handheld devices, such as PDAs and cell phones capable of web browsing. If you are using an older web browser, you should consider upgrading to the latest version so that you can enjoy standard-compliant websites fully.
Credits
This website owes its design philosophy and origin to the nice folks at A List Apart. I also highly recommend Jeffrey Zeldman's book, Designing with Web Standards, for solving many problems (including the pesky Internet Explorer whitespace bug), and for a greater appreciation of Cascading Style Sheets, the CSS Zen Garden website. Everybody who is anybody (at least, in the web design universe) knows that Eric Meyers continues to show the developer community how CSS and XHTML can be used to push the boundaries of web design. Document Formats
Wherever possible, we try to provide standard formats for downloadable documents available on this site. Since there are no frames and we provide a stylesheet for printing, these pages should render correctly on any printer, which is why you'll never see a Printer Friendly
button here.
Most documents are available in PDF format. If you are one of the few people who don't have the free Acrobat Reader, you can get it from Adobe. In the near future, (as soon as I figure it out), documents will also be available in XML, as generated by the free OpenOffice.org suite of office tools, and in RTF, for those who aren't yet ready to ditch Microsoft Office.
The first, and only, legal guide has now been published in paperback and is available at major booksellers. More…
