Tyrone Garner Funeral Fund

Dear friend,

As you may have heard, Tyrone Garner, one of the plaintiffs in Lambda Legal's landmark U.S. Supreme Court victory, Lawrence and Garner v. Texas, passed away unexpectedly the morning of September 11.

Because Tyrone Garner and John Lawrence had the courage to challenge homophobic sodomy laws, the Supreme Court, in its historic ruling, recognized that love, sexuality and family play the same role in gay people's lives as they do for everyone else. That's a colossal legacy and one for which we will all be forever thankful.

Tyrone's contributions to the community were immense. Now his family is asking the community for help and would appreciate greatly any assistance to defray funeral expenses. Mitchell Katine, Lambda Legal's local counsel on the landmark case, has set up the Tyrone Garner Fund, and donations are being accepted care of:
