Bumps in the Road
May 25, 2005
With every great leap forward, we encounter a few bumps in the road.
As it is with civil rights, so it goes with website development. As you are reading this, you are now looking at the new version of the NJ Domestic Partnership website. The changes extend beyond the appearance - after all, it wouldn't have taken this long if all I was doing was pimping
the appearance.
Instead, I have made a tremendous amount of changes under the hood using Movable Type, which now allows me to add information to the site a lot faster than I used to be able to do so. In addition, MT is blogging software, which means that I will shortly be turning on some great new features, including:
- The ability for readers to comment on news stories and articles.
- Mailing lists that notify you when new content has been added.
- Emailing articles and news items to others from the site
- Ability to add authors, allowing others to contribute information to the site.
- Trackback links from other sites.
- The use of RSS and Atom news feeds.
I hope you like the changes and understand that there may be some hiccups
while I tune the software. Please bear with me.
